Checkerlily
Fritillaria affinis
Previous Plant    Back to Thumbnails    Next Plant

I think eight blossoms is the winner for most Checkerlilies on one plant.

Some Checkerlilies are more yellow-green than purple-red.

The object on the right edge of the flower is probably the egg of a lacewing. A lacewing is a small flying insect.

I believe this and the next photo are the seed pod for a Checkerlily, but since the related Scarlet Fritillary grows in the same area, I can't be 100% sure.
