One of the biggest jobs at Rockville is trying to keep people on established trails. Please help the rangers and workers when you visit by not taking shortcuts of any kind. And if you're a mountain biker and you don't like going over lots of rocks, please find another venue for your riding. On almost every trail, there are places with rocks where a biker has gone off the trail onto the less-bumpy shoulders. Bad form!
Here the workers have loaded up an old trail with branches to keep visitors from continuing to use it.
Park workers respond fairly quickly when trails are blocked by falling trees and limbs.
Sometimes new trails need to be constructed.
Other times, erosion is the problem. But the rangers and workers are always at work keeping the trails in great shape for visitors.
