Galls, Diseases, and Pests - California Jumping Gall Wasp
Neuroterus saltatorius
Many gall-inducing insects produce more than one generation per year. And because of the different environmental factors at various times of the year, the galls can be very different from one generation to the next. These Spring generation galls of the California Jumping Gall Wasp are the first Springtime galls I've encountered, and it's easy to see that they don't look much like the Summer generation galls above. These galls are on new blue oak leaves.
