This gall is found on Toyon berries (Heteromeles arbutifolia). The gall is often found on greener, unripened berries, but I have found it on red berries also. One of the telltale signs of Asphondylia galls is that they have white "fuzz" on them. The fuzz is made up of fungal threads that grow in or around the gall.
